Optygen dosage

I know on the back of the bottle it says to take 4 capsules a day with a meal. Does the recommendation change at all depending on your weight. Should a 230 pound triathlete take 4, and a 130 pound tr…

I was just thinking about the same question. Thanks for all the info Robert!

Got it! I'm clear now. That was what I thought, but wanted to verify since the question came to me. I'm 8 weeks out from IM, I think I am timing it just perfectly. As always, Robert, you are so quick and helpful with these things, thank you!

NOT from an OptygenHP stand point. This is a systemic product that needs time to work. SO its best to look at your 'stress timeline' in terms of weeks or months, not days. Pick your most stressful months and go on Optygen/HP.. 6-12 weeks blocks is b…

Robert, So from a stress point of view can you modulate your intake day by day? Like if Mon/Tues are generally lower training days can I take none? And then Wed when I hit it hard, take 4, then Thursday/Friday which are moderate take 2, then Saturd…

correct..but if stress is low, go OFF all together.

Just here checking in and getting a little help with Optygen HP.

Ahh, interesting. Okay, so the fact that stress is moderate right now would justify 3 capsules, but I need to work up to 4 for my big IM build and through the IM, then after IM back off until I'm ramping up the training stress again. Got it.

Sonja, OptygenHP works on stress response and hence is not tied to weight of an athlete. In other words, it matters more how much stress you put on your body which regulates how much cortisol is released than the weight of an athlete.

Oh, and by the way, I'm taking Optygen HP!

Moab 100 Mile Run Race Nutrition Report

Well, the Moab 100 has finally come and gone. I trained pretty seriously for this race and I used First Endurance EFS during training. My nutrition plan was to have EFS in my 20oz hand bottle and to drink it as long as my palate was happy with it. Then I would switch over to nuun and food calories if I felt I needed to. You always have a plan, but really, most the time you have to make changes to your plan.

So, first off, I finished the race! It was my first 100 miler and fi

Moab 50K, my first nutritional stumble

On the way to training for the Moab 100 at the end of March, I wanted to race a 50K in preparation. Last weekend I toed the line at the Moab Red Hot 50K. When I am on my super long runs (like the 45 miler I posted about) I focus purely on Moab 100 prep. I practice nutrition, pacing, time management.

But when you race...well, things are different. I am planning on the 100 miler to be a chore in execution. Keeping the heart rate low, never ever loosing control, ticking off the

45 mile run, first time with EFS

Ahh, yes, the big runs are ramping up as I am 8 weeks out from my first go at a 100 mile run race. I had 45 miles on tap Saturday, and was instructed to run it in 6 mile loops to mimic the loop format of of the Moab100 that I'm signed up for.

I want to run Moab with just a hand bottle, since I will see my aid crew (my husband) every 6 miles. I wanted to test to see if I could handle carrying a hand bottle for a long period of time.

I just got my big shipment of FE products so I haven't had muc… Continue

GF test Complete

Sunday marked the completion of my GF test. I did the full 3 days on, 6 days off, and then what turned out to be 4 days back on, as I remained GF the entire day of my race. I raced Sunday to see if I noticed any changes, or improved performance.

The last two day of GF were interesting. I definitely got down how to eat, and it wasn't really an issue to stay GF. My headaches did not reappear. My stomach was however not happy. I was pretty nervous going into the race that I would have to stop for… Continue

Hey Sonja, likewise... nice to see you here. I'm sure we will bump paths again at one or more of the Rev3 events. Rock on, girl!
