I usually pre-mix a small water bottle with one scoop of EFP and a full dose of PreRace and drink it on the trainer while I warm-up. I start drinking it 40 minutes before the start and try to finish it 15 minutes before the start. Sometimes I will m…

It works! Triathlon season is over but road and MTB race season is in full swing in Texas. I use PreRace before every race to help get systems going. I love the fact that it doesnt make me jittery or make my heart race like other energy drinks. I u…

I began testing PreRace toward the end of last season. I have used it a little in training this winter for more intense sessions like power test on the trainer or long tempo sessions. My mix last season was pretty close to what Matt described in pri…

Hello hello everyone! Looks like all are having a great winter season! Well depending on where you are I suppose it may not be winter ;) Here in CO I can definitely feel the winter. Although, with a new amazing coach and great group to train with I…

I agree with this. If I eat a lot of raw veggies it really slows my GI track down and makes recovery difficult. Fruit seems a little different, maybe due to the slightly lower fiber and higher water content. Does anyone know where soy product fit i…

I also think it's not a difficult as people think. Just replacing certain foods in your house can make the difference. I like to always have short grain brown rice cooked and in the fridge. I just keep certain foods out of the house (like pasta and…

Having the right foods on hand is a big factor. I get very very sick if I have gluten products (celiac disease) so there is zero temptation to even touch the gluten stuff, but my son has a much milder case and we find it is a lot harder to keep him…

Lets see. Well it sounds like you are not one who makes chances best cold turkey? What are the things that you love and are having trouble changing out or cutting out. I would try to restock your kitchen. Rice products, yams, hot rice cereal, glute…

Hope the winter is treating everyone splendidly! Does anyone have experiences or input on PreRace?

Hello hello everyone!

Looks like all are having a great winter season! Well depending on where you are I suppose it may not be winter ;) Here in CO I can definitely feel the winter. Although, with a new amazing coach and great group to train with I'd rather be no where else. I suppose many things in life are this way, it is the attitude with which we carry and choose to respond to events in life that dictate what we gain from each experience.

Anyhow, between cooking up new items and trying new… Continue

Happy winter training!

I hope everyone is having happy training and some great down time. I'm sure some of you are starting to feel the effects of the winter coming in! Wow, it is crazy when this starts to happen how some days are more difficult than others to pull it together and get that training in. A few indoor sessions I'm sure!

Happy trails this winter! On a nutrition note, it is a perfect time to play with nutrition and get in some trial and error and trial and success so that when the racing season comes arou… Continue

ITU Long Distance Worlds recap!

Hi all! Above is the website link for the race results from ITU Long Distance Worlds from 2 weeks ago in Perth, Australia. I just wanted to give a brief synopses of the race. It was a pretty brutal day, for everyone. Very, very choppy 3km swim, we were all pretty spread out. Thanks goodness for all the years I have put in in the water, although it… Continue

Updates! Sorry I've been away so long! All the best as you wind down your 2009 season!

Hello hello!

Hope everyone is well and depending on where you live enjoying the weather. Mother nature brought in a cold front with the first official day of fall here in CO and most of us outdoor junkies frowned at the inclination of summer coming to a close. I personally was put to the test when I debated a mountain ride in snow and below zero temps, and gave into a bit warmer flat ride in town when the settled.

Time has flown since my last race here in town, the 5430 1/2. It was an amazing… Continue

Vineman 70.3 Race and Nutrition Report!

For first endurance

Vineman 70.3 Race and Nutrition Report

A wonderful weekend started off with a goodbye to my mother who had come to visit me in Boulder. A great week of organization and good times. I headed to the airport with a friend of mine who was doing the race as well and is from the Bay area. I cannot tell you after many solo flights and races how great and special it was to have a traveling buddy.

Anyhow, travels and arrival all went smoothly. The traffic put a stitch in our plans,… Continue

Hey - did you end up making it back for Hy-Vee?

Hey Becky,

Yep I'm in Des Moines - been here about 5.5 years now, from PA originally. Hy-Vee 2008 was my first tri. I saw you're doing KS - I'll be at that one too. If I do well enough at Florida, I may take a roll down spot for Wisconsin - although sometimes I wonder if I'm biting off more than I can chew for my 2nd year...

Thanks for the advice for Florida!

Tom
