Bummer about not being able to use chicken broth. After about 10 hours, I find chicken broth to be a godsend. I always reached a point where I just couldn't stomach the thought of another gel or bottle of gatorade. So changing to hot soup with lots…

Great race-Go Sonja. Love the video. Relative to the "incident" did you follow your normal pre run routine. I would imagine with the limited facilities out at the race site you may have changed things up a bit. Seems like you went from 20 oz every 6…

Well I added a rather unintentional leg aspect to my experiment by picking the absolute worst time to run out of UltraGen. I ran out and kept procastinating reording then went on the road for a week with no internet so I couldn't order and then fina…

Over the holidays, it is always a challenge to stick with my plan and not eat way, way too much. Well I actually succeeded in one of those two area this year. I got a run in before the road trip to my parents, a planned day off on X-mas, and a ride…

Great Post Andy. I wish we could get a sample pack of all the flavors. I'm having trouble deciding which ones to order and will probably get a tub of each anyways. Great job on that PR! 1:02 is totally HAULIN'!

I would recommend you start with the EFS liquid shot and use it in all workouts, short or long. You can dilute the flask down so its 100 calories for short workouts or a full 400 calories for long workouts. Just top off with water once you put the c…

Robert - Thank you for taking the time to respond! I do appreciate it. If I were to begin experimenting with EFS products, what would you recommend?

John, I did speak at Couer d'Alene, great memory! In philosophy it really comes down to how products are developed and research. Our products are developed fully from an R & D perspective and then handed off to marketing. We demand that there is hum…

About me
39 year old married father of 2 tireless boys (12 and 9). Started doing Triathlons in 2003 after 14 years of inactivity and discovering I was a couch potatoe. After losing 65 pounds, I jumpd in and competed in my first sprint triathlon on a dare and I've been hooked ever since. Did my first Olympic in 2004, first HIM in 2005, IMFL in 2006, got selected for the Kona Lottery and competed at the IMWC in 2007, ran the Boston Marathon in 2008, IMAZ in 2008, and IMUK in 2009. I have completed 4 ironmans, 8 marathons, 11 half ironmans, 18 half marathons, and about 50 triathlons and duathalons since 2003. I love the triathlon lifestyle and am passionate how it has helped me to improve my physical and mental health, improved my confidence, and even helped my performance at work.

Phase 1 complete- Spring is in the Air.

Well winter may not be officially over yet but after a month of 4 major stroms and 78" shovelled from my driveway last month, all that has melted away and 55 degrees feels like shorts and T shirt weather. My new bike (my first real Tri Bike, a Kestral Talon Tri SL) is in route and I can start to feel the energy rising inside for that first triathlon since Ironman UK last August coming up the first week of May.

I have had a great three months on the bike this winter months of 60

Another break through - 40K TT PR

Well with all the snow and sloppy conditions I have been doing alot of trainer work the past two week and my UltraGen and EFS have really helped keep my legs fresh. But the highlight of the last few weeks was one of the few days i did get outside for a run. Ran a brisk 7.7 miles on the roads and then about 4 hours later I hammered a 40 K TT on the Computrainer. All I can say about this one is WOW!. Due to the snow which started falling right at 5:00pm as forecast (another wow), we passed on k

Its been an interesting few week with traveling and having to workout in a hotel, having to survive two major snowstroms in a week, cancalled classes, having my office closed and nearly 6 hours of snow shovelling. So I got to do some extra indoor trainer rides at the expense of running in the mess the local road have become this week. My best workouts were a 40 K

Help- I'm out of Ultragen-Another data point-This stuff works for me.

Well I added a rather unintentional leg aspect to my experiment by picking the absolute worst time to run out of UltraGen. I ran out and kept procastinating reording then went on the road for a week with no internet so I couldn't order and then finally did and the Fed EX guy is taking the long route to get the package to me, and now I'm out of EFS too. (The Fed Ex tracker says it is in MD and should be delivered by Monday).

As a result I got to find out if there was any noticable impact of drop… Continue
